DIY - JUJU HAT MADE EASY
Juju hats (Traditional African headdress ) have gained their popularity as wall hangings - you see them everywhere , and because they are so popular prices have gone up , by any means if you can buy the real thing , but if you are like me - skint and working on the budget , or you need something temporary - then here is a small diy for you .
Juju hats make a beautiful wall decor and you can make it as big as you like - mine is around 40 cm and it cost me £10! ,as this is all that i had the space for , ok enough talking - lets start !
Materials : to make 40 cm juju (to make it twice as big get 3 times more )
- 4 meters of Rooster Feather Trimming ( you can buy those for £2 on eBay - i ordered from a Chinese seller to keep costs down )
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- random cardboard / or even a round table mat
- bit of wire to make a loop hanger - or a hanger
- something to draw a circle - i used a plate
1 - using a plate or whatever random circular item you have draw a circle
2 - cut the circle ( as you see my straight cutting skills are bad -if you are as bad as me dont worry - you wont see it once juju is done
starting from the edge of your circle apply a hot glue a little at the time - and start flying the feather trim dowm - keep going round and round until you reach the center -go as close/ tight as you can
to cover the center trim - cut off few stray feathers and glue them randomly to the center , then at the back make a simple loop out of wire /or use a ready made hanger and glue it in - and you are done
I hope that you enjoyed this tutorial and i cannot wait to see your creations
