Its no secret that i absolutely adore interior Instagram community - and often find that their homes and ideas plus advice are so much more inspiring and helpful than any magazine i could find , So when i put a post on my Instagram stories asking what are your favorite interior books -a lot more people have responded than i expected so thank you so much .
To kick start august -I decided to put a list of 10 of most mentioned books , considered a must have for anyone crazy about interiors , so whenever you are here because you want to stock up on some book reconditions , or simply looking for a gift idea for your friend or a loved one - it is worth checking those books out . i own quite a few interior design books myself - most of them were given to me as gifts from friends and family as they seem to think i live and breathe interiors ;) i know nothing about interiors , but the books helped so thank you ;) anyway - back to the 2019 list ( hoping that i can update it one day)
Abigail Ahern Colour have been a favorite of many ! the queen of dark interiors book is a must have for the inspiration - in this book she shows the most beautiful dark interiors , as well as great colour combinations - so if you are on the dark side or looking for an eye catching coffee table book - this one is for you . I wanted to add here that i personally love Abigail’s first book A Girl's Guide to Decorating as it features some diy too :)
Emily Henderson Styled - is one beautifully designed book and also heavily recommended by you - even tho i love darker interiors myself i do have that book at home and love not only the photography , great interiors but also Emily great advice ! - a must have in my opinion !
Rockett St George Extraordinary interiors - is a home grown talent ( i say home co Britain is as much as my home as Poland is ) - this is the ultimate eye candy of a book - featuring so many talented instagramers homes - that decorated their spaces on a huge array of budgets - with a lot of inspo to adapt to your own style / and budget . Most of interiors are on a moody eclectic scale with few lighter thrown in - i love that book as well and i am so happy you guys loving it as well x
Maria Speake and Adam Hills - Reclaiming Style - This title was mentioned quite a few times , i havent actually read it myself - but i love the idea of using salvaged materials in interiors - but i love the book description “ Reclaiming Style goes with them behind the scenes, from the demolition site to the warehouse to the process of designing beautiful interiors using reclaimed materials. Charted over twelve locations, ranging from a 17th-century cottage to a converted barn to a 1970s towerblock apartment, the company s unique style goes far beyond a mere commitment to salvage and sustainable design and offers an inspiring new vision for sophisticated, thoughtfully constructed living spaces.”
Grace Bonney - Design Sponge at home - Guys ! this book is my everything , as an avid reader of Design Sponge blog that sadly soon will be closing up (sobs) the book for me is one of most inspiring and full of ideas and tips from real life and achievable eclectic and very creative homes featuring projects, DIY, and from the homes across the world ! i so wish Grace would write another book as an extension to this one ! for me and for many of you this book is also a must have .
Deborah Nedleman , Sara Ruffin Costello & Dara Caponigro Domino the book of Decorating - this book seem to be a staple of your homes - with a clear and easy to follow guide how to make the most of your homes, although i don’t have this book myself - it is proving to be a very popular book amongst you , its a matter of time until Mr Grumpy gets the book for me ;)
Orlando Soria - Get it together , i admit that this is the first time i heard about this author/blogger/ instagrammer , so off i went to check his page and i admit i am blown away by his talent - hes fresh not a copy and paste home have mesmerized me and thanks to you i have ordered his book cannot wait to read it :)
Joanna Gaines Home body - Joanna ( and Chip) are very popular among US Instagrammers as well as fans of Fixer Upper Tv series - those two make the best team , where us rest of us tend to throw a tantrum over putting a flat pack as a couple - Chip and Joanna work together like a clock work ( or 2 peas in a pod) - Joanna book is beautifully presented with not only a practical advice but even better photography x
Julie Carlson Remodelista A Manual for the Considered Home- the reviews of this particular book are a bit of a mix bag, but for me is a beautifully designed book packed with loads of info and great shots - if you like perfectly imperfect US homes - this book is for you . I cannot count as to how many times i looked through it ( and i read it as well ) I love it
Kate Watson-Smyth Mad about the house - Ever growing popular blogger and writer with a bags of experience - it is safe to say that Kate knows her shizz ! - although Kate prefers more subtle colour palette she knows exactly where to add that punch of interest ! Kate book isn’t just a photo book ( as you wont find as many images here) but a great insight as to how to make your home work for you - book is written with an easy to understand “plain English” and would be fantastic addition to a amateurs and pros alike.
I wanted to ad that NO BOOK WAS HARMED in creating the two images ;) and that i hope that this small selection will help in any way in finding your perfect book x
